Our research interests are in the field of evolutionary genetics, especially in evolutionary processes occurring at or influenced by the genome. Using a combination of molecular biology, cytology, and classical genetics, we investigate processes of genome evolution, including the causes and consequences of chromosomal evolution, the interaction between the genome and parasitic genetic elements, and the influence of population genetic forces on linked sets of genes. Current research projects in the lab are primarily concerned with understanding two evolutionary processes: the influence of genome organization on adaptive evolution, and the development of heteromorphism between the sex chromosomes. These studies are based upon genetic analyses of a fly species Drosophila americana.
On the website, you can access information about the PI, read about our research, get a list of publications, see descriptions of the fly stocks available from the lab, and obtain published sequence data as a set.
